John Bulmer's work is a source of inspiration for me taking photographs around Chorley, because the images he took of Manchester, and wherever he ventured, managed to appear both bleak and charming at the same time. The lighting he uses manages to make the images seem beautiful even when he is capturing some quite rough and ready scenery, and the composition and locations he focussed on were always interesting and strong. The images of Manchester are engaging and wonderful, and beautifully captured in a photo documentary style.
