Matthew Carter
Created the typeface for company Bell Centennial, and also created well known typefaces like Tahoma and Verdana, and has had a prolific career as a type designer since 1961.

Erik Spiekermann
One of the most well known names in typography, Spiekermann is a german type designer who started Font Shop, which provided digital fonts by mail order. Fonts he has designed include Berliner Grotesk.
